DEPARTMENT OF HISTORY

The Department of History is consisted of two Assistant Professors and three State Aided College Teachers (SACT)

·         General- 2001

The faculties of the History Department commingle variegated teaching methodologies and interactive sessions, debates to widen up educational capabilities and to garner new perspectives regarding the unraveling of different historiography. Students are encouraged rigorously to make use of the sources available in the well furbished library. The department arranges excursions to impart knowledge from direct source and acquaint the students with the first hand information. The procedures of teacing outside the text help the students to accelerate the power of observation, drawing inferences and exploration. The faculties motivate the students for self-study and to equip themselves with the qualities of leadership and cooperative attitude.

Departmental Activities:

·         2009- UGC sponsored State Level Seminar on “ Environmental History of India” (18-19 December, 2009)

·         2019-20- A Tour-cum- Excursion Programme on 4th March to Gour, Malda, West Bengal.

·         2020- One Day State Level webinar on “Vidyasagar : from the Bay of Bengal to the Indian Ocean and Beyond” on 18th September, 2020.
